Hit the Road: Minivan vs. Passenger Van Rental - Which One Fits Your Trip

Minivan or full passenger van? It really comes down to how many people you’re moving and how much room you want. Here’s a quick guide to picking the right one for your trip.

Go with a minivan for small groups

For up to seven people, a minivan is the easy, economical choice — it parks like a car, sips fuel, and is the simplest thing to drive. Perfect for a family, an airport run, or a small crew.

Choose a passenger van for bigger groups

Once you’re past seven, a passenger van is the answer. Our 12- and 15-passenger vans keep everyone together with room for luggage, and they’re still easy to drive with a regular license.

Comfort and cargo

A passenger van gives more headroom, legroom, and cargo space — a real difference on longer trips. If comfort matters, our Mercedes-Benz Sprinters add reclining seats and a smoother ride.

Cost and convenience

A minivan is cheaper for a small group; a passenger van is more cost-effective per person once the group grows, since you’re splitting one rental instead of booking two vehicles.

Quick rule of thumb

Seven or fewer, go minivan. Eight to fifteen, go passenger van. Either way, one vehicle keeps your group together — and with us you can drive it across the USA and into Canada.

Which van should you pick?

For a small group, the 7-passenger minivan; for a bigger group, the 15-passenger Ford Transit (value) or the 15-passenger Mercedes-Benz Sprinter (comfort). See the full fleet.
